Q4 To Deliver Melton Station Carpark Lighting Upgrade

Q4 Electrical & Communications is proud to announce another milestone in our rail-sector journey with the award of the Melton Railway Station lighting upgrade contract, delivered in partnership with Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM).

This project underscores Q4’s unwavering commitment to rail infrastructure excellence, combining cutting‑edge electrical delivery with integration of overhead catenary system (OCS) capabilities, when needed. It’s not just about lights – it’s about building for safety, security, and the future.

Enhancing Safety and Visibility

Melton Station is undergoing a major transformation as part of the broader level‑crossing removal and station upgrade program. The precinct’s redesign places a strong emphasis on safety, with improved lighting throughout the carpark, platforms, and forecourt.

Better lighting helps reduce risks after dark, improves sight lines, and augments CCTV coverage – all in response to community feedback.

Future‑Focused Design

The new Melton Station, set to open in 2026, is being built with a future‑ready mindset. The designs include four elevated platforms, capable of handling nine‑car VLocity trains, which will boost the line’s capacity by up to 50%.

Q4’s lighting work will support this long-term vision, delivering high-quality electrical infrastructure that aligns with other modern station features: an air-conditioned waiting room, improved passenger information systems, and secure walking and cycling paths.

Building Community Confidence

This contract win is a signal of trust from our partners. MTM’s decision to bring Q4 on board reflects their confidence in our technical expertise and our ability to deliver on high-stakes rail infrastructure projects.

For Q4, the Melton lighting upgrade is more than a job, it’s part of a broader commitment to shaping the transport future of Victoria. As the station precinct evolves, we’re proud to contribute our skills to a safer, more accessible, and better-connected Melton.
